6:15 pm - 7:15 pm
70 South Gallery
Friday, November 30th. 6:15PM. Come for a relaxing hour of yoga, and go home with a unique piece of yoga art as a reminder to maintain that sense of calm in the ensuing craziness of the holidays.
As you practice on your yoga mat, the artist and yogi, Bonesy, will be painting live throughout the class.
In her words, live painting yoga classes helps give energy to the pieces, rather than painting from a photo. As the yogis move through the practice, the energy and stillness will be recorded with watercolor on paper. At the end of the class, one lucky winner will get to choose from a selection of paintings to take home with them.
$30 per person. Limited to 20 registrants.
About the Yogi & Artist Christina Lewis
Christina Lewis (Bonesy) draws inspiration from Yogic Philosophy. Exploring the positive influence yoga has had on her own life, Bonesy uses color and texture to evoke the power and grace of the human form. She is currently working on a series visualizing the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. The sutra series is a longterm project, where eventually she will paint all 196 aphorisms on how to quiet the mind. Bonesy paints exclusively with palette knives, never using brushes. Colorful works in oil and watercolor capture the energy of the female figure as invoked through yoga poses. Live painting yoga classes, as yogis move through each pose gracefully, allows her to capture this energy with gestural paintings. Bonesy earned her BFA in Graphic Design and Painting from the University of Notre Dame. She now lives in New Jersey and is a member of Con Artist Collective on the Lower East Side.
